We’ve just been made aware (after the fact) that the Lower Elwha Tribe has begun construction on a casino here on the reservation at the end of Stratton Rd. To our knowledge there was no public forum, tribal or otherwise, to discus the impact a casino will have on our local community, including an extreme high volume of traffic flow on rural Lower Elwha Rd. A casino brings with it a whole new set of circumstances and problems we do NOT want in our otherwise quiet community. High traffic, alcohol related accidents, and noise are just a few of the reasons we oppose gaming here on the Lower Elwha.
Although my wife and I live on the reservation(she’s a tribal member), we are vehemenently opposed to having a casino almost literally in our backyard, and wonder how others in the Dry Creek area feel about this developement, and what, if anything, can be done to stop this construction.
